Huang Hui-mei utilized to fear being expected about her racial history. The child of the Vietnamese mom and Taiwanese dad, she knew that having Southeast Asian heritage had been regarded as a marker of low status in Taiwan.
However now, Hui-mei, a senior school sophomore whoever mom had been driven by poverty to come calmly to Taiwan, is discovering that folks are more inquisitive – in a great way – about her history.
